There will be a light lunch available. Please bring your towel!
The Welcome Party
The party will likely be held 7:30pm on Friday July 7th at La Cialoma restaurant located right in the town of Scopello footsteps from your hotels.
The party will include appetizers, drinks (wine, beer, spritz and select cocktails) and a light buffet dinner while we mingle and share some speeches. There will be a vegetarian option for those who do no eat fish.
The attire for this event is summer chic!
Ladies think fun linen or light short and midi dresses. No footwear constraint here, your heels are safe!
Guys, think summer pants and a nice button down shirt. No shorts, please!
The Ceremony Details
Transportation via shuttle to the Tonnara will be provided from town both to and from the event (3 min drive down the hill)
The ceremony is likely to start at 7pm depending on the sunset time. We will keep everyone updated on this.
The reception will begin immediately after the ceremony at the location, consisting of aperitivo hour and a dinner with a band and dancing until ~ 11pm.
Following the reception, a second dance party in a surprise location on the premises will commence and go LATE! It’s a marathon not a sprint!
We want to communicate in advance to our dear American guests that this is, in fact, an Italian wedding! What do we mean? This is a BIG eating event and things happen later than we are used to. Pace yourself and know coming into the event that Italians stay up late… we suggest a nice nap prior an encourage you to take that espresso & amaro after dinner!
Wedding Dress Code & Tips
The dress code is what we’d like to call…. HOT & GLAMOROUS!
What can this mean?? Well, we definitely encourage everyone to look their hottest while considering a glamorous cocktail attire dress code, but we also want to call out that the temperatures could be quite hot. 85+ degrees at the start of the night, though we are directly on the water and expect a breeze for relief.
Ladies, midi & long dresses in elegant fabrics (nicer than linen) but we’d say avoid long sleeves and styles that are too restricting or not breathable.
Guys, we are asking that you wear summer suits (linen is great), but ditch the tie if you want to given the heat!
Shoes…. this is not a drill. I (Meg) would rather be too hyperbolic up front than leave anyone in pain or distress at this event:
The Tonnara is a historical site of a fishing village directly on the sea, so this means the ground has a very noticeable slope, consists of large pebbles and can have patches of grass and uneven surfaces. This includes the area we will be dancing.
DO NOT wear a high stiletto heel. If you wear heels, consider a chunky, low-mid or wedge heel. We also really recommend bringing an elegant sandal to change into. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
